2009 Honda Cars Review
History
In 1982 Honda started the producing Accords in the U.S. and by the end of the 80s, it became the most popular car in America. Throughout this decade and into the 1990s, Honda continued to offer many innovative technologies such as the VTEC variable valve timing, superior safety features, aluminum body construction, and new gasoline/electric hybrid engines. Today, Honda occupies a special place in the auto world and offers a complete line-up of vehicles, including fuel-efficient hybrids, reliable family sedans, spacious minivans, brawny SUVs and even a pickup.

Expansion
Honda is well-known worldwide as the leading manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles, trucks, scooters, robots, jets and jet engines, ATV, water craft, electrical generators, marine engines, lawn and garden equipment, and aeronautical and other mobile technologies. Over the years, Honda has been creating new dreams for its customers through its innovative in product design and advanced technology developed from the initiative of Honda associates throughout the world. Honda is the 5th largest automobile manufacturer in the world as well as the largest engine-maker in the world. It is also leading the world in advancing the safety and environmental performance of its products. The American Honda Motor Co., Inc. was founded in Torrance, California in the year 1959 as the US sales & marketing subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Since Nov 1, 1982 Honda has been continuously manufacturing automobiles in the U.S. longer than any other international auto manufacturer. American Honda Motor Co. Inc. was the first Japanese automaker to export its US-built cars to overseas markets (1987). In 1973 American Honda started building its own network for automobile sales, when the Honda Civic, went on sale as a new model. At that time the American car market was dominated by extremely large automobiles. The affordable Civic, however, was nearly always positioned at the bottom of the product list, and was generally assigned to a back corner of their outdoor display lot or the used-car area. The US auto industry found itself reeling under the effects of the first oil crisis from mid-1973 to the following year. This prompted American drivers to change perception of what constituted value in a car. They were no longer satisfied with large, luxurious "gas guzzlers," and began to see the practical benefits of sensible size and excellent fuel economy. The Civic was placed first in a fuel economy test conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1974. The same year, American Honda began selling Civics equipped with the CVCC engine, which was the first engine to pass the strict emissions standards of the U.S. Clean Air Act. So the Civic became Americas leader in both fuel mileage and minimal emissions and subsequently added volumes to Hondas sales figures.
