MINI got the credit of selling over Four million MINIs were sold across the world in the 1070s. In the later twenty years, more than five million MINIs built worldwide. The BMW Group bought the MINI in 1994 and MINI re-entered the US in 2002 with the entry-level MINI Cooper hatchback.

Expansion
MINI symbolized a small, stylish vehicle at a low cost and it was manufactured at a time when England was subject to fuel rationing due to the Suez Canal crisis and optimum fuel-efficiency was crucial for car buyers. Notably MINI reflected the very essence of the youthful 1960s. As a small, agile, lightweight four-passenger car, MINI occupied minimum space and provided excellent fuel-efficiency.
Originally, MINI motorcar was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) in England in 1959 . Earlier it was sold under BMCs Austin and Morris brands. At that time, the MINI was a perfect urban car, with just 34 hp, in heavily crowded cities in Europe. MINI came under the ownership of British racing legend John Cooper in 1961 and the ferocious MINI Cooper was born. The Cooper S model with 76 horsepower became an instant hit . In the later years, MINI won several international race competitions, including four, at the Monte Carlo Rally in a row (1964-67).

2009 MINI Cooper
The 2009 MINI Cooper, a two-door, four-passenger car, is offered in both coupe and convertible versions, and is offered as Cooper and Cooper S. A grand and exotic John Cooper Works Edition is offered newly for this year. For 2009, the front-wheel-drive continues with its core tradition of combining a compact size with neat fuel economy, in the region of 30 mpg city/ 37 mpg highway.
2009 MINI Cooper Clubman
The all-new 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman, based on a regular Cooper model, is a fun-to-drive vehicle, with responsive handling and best fuel economy. This two-door, four-seater hatchback, available in base Cooper and Cooper S trims, has a few new options like roof rails and a rear roof spoiler. A John Cooper Works version is also available.
